PrimeNet is the 10-year old network that runs the Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search (GIMPS) research project.

Getting started is as easy as 1-2-3 !

1. Register a new member account login.

Your account login is the "container" that holds your preferences, your computer and work assignments info, and your productivity statistics. There is no limit to the number of computers you can have in your account.

2. Download and install Prime95 or similar software onto your computer (or computers).

The software program has been successfully used for over ten years on hundreds of thousands of home, office, school and business computers, but be sure to first get permission from the computer's owner if it's not yours!  The software program uses only the leftover idle processor cycles unused by other programs.

3. Start the software program and enter your member account login.

The program will automatically 'bind' itself to your member account when you enter your member account login into the program, and starts working immediately! You can see each computer added to your account using your Computer CPU Details page, as well as what it is working upon.

That's it!

Once you have your computers added to your account and running work assignments, you can:

• customize your account settings
  • set an optional public name used for statistics reports and milestones
  • optionally join a team to pool your stats and workload
  • set a work assignment preference
  • review your account performance and ranking
  • link your personal web site to your stats entries
• remotely manage your computers from where you can
  • change computer names for tracking
  • set computer-specific work assignment preferences
  • review detailed operating stats and facts
• manage your work assignment preferences
• review your completed work assignments, stats and facts
• be a team leader, create and manage a team!
